Game Cards and
Sportsmanship
This memo is
to establish the criteria for filling-out all game cards, which are used
to document final game results and awarding sportsmanship points.
Referees are to receive a new game card from each coach prior to the
start of each game. All information should be filled-out at the top and
bottom of the card. Along with the names of each player printed on the
front of each card listing all players in numerical order. After
completion of the game, the referee is to fill-in the back of the game
card. Cards should then be returned to the storage bins at each field or
to the division coordinator.
Please review the following as they apply:
1.
Disciplinary action taken: Cautions (Yellow cards), Sending-off (Red
cards), and removal of coaches or spectators. This should only be
written on the game card from the team, which received the offense,
period of time to include before and after the game. Actions taken for
any send-off, removal of coach or a spectator. A follow-up misconduct
report should be written and submitted to the regional referee
administrator within 24 hours (please see
Referee Info page).
* We do not card players in U6/U8/U10 *
2. Additional comments: Any condition which prevented the start of the
game or the termination of the match. Note on the card if there are no
AYSO referees for the match. Note any injuries, which might involve any
emergency medical treatment, both on the field or after the game. A
follow-up injury report should be written and submitted to the regional
safety director within 48 hours. Causes for late start of the match.
Note any hazardous field conditions (i.e. no nets, corner flags, field
markings, pot holes etc....).
3. Referee signature: Please print referees names in full.
4. Sportsmanship award rating: Ratings appear on the backside of game
cards. The value of 1-5 points or excellent, normal, poor. All teams
playing shall start with point value of 3 or normal. In the referees
judgment a team may receive a higher point value (5 or excellent being
the highest) or a lower point value (1 or poor being the lowest). These
judgments may differ with each referee and each new game situation, but
should not be challenged. If the game card rating is incomplete, a 3 or
normal will be issued. Any team, which receives two cautions or the
removal of a coach or spectator, will receive a combined total rating of
zero for that game.
5. We are playing a Five (5) goal differential rule. The team will have
1-point deduction from their sportsmanship for each goal scored over the
5 goal differential rule. But if the Referee & AR’s think that every
effort was made not to score and a score does happen, please note on
game card your comments and the deduction will not be taken.
